SMARDALE VIADUCT - 23rd March 2002 Smardale Viaduct is the tallest on the line crossing Scandal Beck and the trackbed of the former Tebay to Barnard Castle line of the North Eastern Railway. Built between 1870 and 1875 it has 12 arches, is 130 feet high and 237 yards long. |
