60041 at Ribblehead
RIBBLEHEAD - 25th September 2000
The driver of 60041 tucks into his cheese and pickle sandwiches as his train of ballast from Shap is unloaded. This was a railhead for ballast in connection with track relaying the following November. The train had to approach Ribblehead from the south as there are no run-round facilities in the siding and due to the trains weight it was prohibited from traversing the Carnforth-Hellifield line and therefore had to run via Preston, Blackburn and Hellifield.
