HELWITH BRIDGE - 11th March 1989 E54196 + E53606 on the 13.03 Leeds-Carlisle. Sat behind the driver on a class 108 dmu was ideal for viewing the Settle and Carlisle, providing the driver didn't pull the blinds down of course! The train has just passed the location of the former siding of the Helwith Bridge Granite Co. The Granite being conveyed across the Ribble on a covered conveyor. The siding was controlled by a ground frame but was removed in 1969. |
